It’s almost time for Heritage day! Here are some fun things to do in and around Johannesburg that might pique your interest:

  1. DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival

The DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival – the music festival for food lovers and the food festival for music lovers – is back once more. The festival will be held at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on 22 and the 23 September 2018.

The main ingredients of the festival include international and local artists on the main stage, international and local chefs featured in the various pop-up restaurants and cooking theatres, channel activations, brand activations, an interactive kids zone and SA’s biggest gourmet street food market.

 

2. Heritage Day in Bloom hosted by Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & SPA

Indulge in the ultimate picnic experience on 24 September 2018 from 12:30 to 16:30. Fairlawns celebrates the rich diversity of cultures, beliefs, and traditions that make South Africa great. Tickets are R450 per person. Booking is essential. Visit their Facebook page for more.

 

3. Heritage Market at Carnival City

The Carnival City Heritage Day Market will feature an array of stalls and exhibits with unique homemade, handcrafted goods, clothing, jewelry and homeware.

The Market will take place from 10:00 to 18:00 on 23 and 24 September 2018 in the walkway to the main entrance of Carnival City. There is no entrance fee. See their Facebook page for more details.

 

4. KCC Heritage Day Braai

The Killarney Country Club in Johannesburg is hosting a family braai day this Heritage Day. The best-dressed heritage outfit will also win a prize. Kids entertainment will also be provided. 5. Sylvia’s Night Market

Lots of great food, crafts, and entertainment will keep everyone partying the whole night on 23 September 2018. On 24 September 2018, the market is set for another round for more Heritage Day celebrations. See their Facebook page for more.

6. Heritage Day at Pines Resort, Krugersdorp

Pines Resort in Krugersdorp is set to host a family-fun filled braai day on 24 September 2018 from 09:00 to 17:00. The resort offers numerous waterslides, solar heated swimming pools, a splash pad, kiddies playground, jumping castle, picnic and braai areas. Find out more over here.

 

7. Rietvlei Zoo Farm’s National Heritage & Braai Day

Rietvlei Zoo Farm is set to host a Heritage and Braai Day from 09:00 to 17:00 on 24 September 2018. Entrance fee for the Picnic Park is R30 per person. They also ask those interested to dress up with SA Flags, traditional outfits, and fun accessories. A Drum braai can be hired for R50. Take your own food, drinks, and charcoal. 8. The Bryanston Country Club’s Heritage Day Weekend

The Bryanston Country Club is set to host a variety of events over the long-weekend:

22 September 2018: The StrEAT FESTIVAL in the street by the Racquets Section will be open from 08:00 to 14:00 for breakfast and lunch with loads of activities including Tennis, Squash, Croquet, Petanque, Music, Craft Stalls and more.

23 September 2018: Family Trophy Golf & Lunch on the Bryanston Patio. The competition fee is R160 (Including lunch). Bookings can be done through their Golf Office.

24 September 2018: Heritage Day Braai & Pool Opening from 08:00 to 17:00. The event costs R165 per person and includes live music. Lunch bookings can be made through reception.
